What is monday.com ?
Hi, my name is Kota Shimizu, Web Director.
In this article, I would like to introduce a project management tool, monday.com.
Like ClickUp, which we introduced in another article, it is a highly functional tool for a wide range of purposes, and moreover, it is available in Japanese.
The friendly-looking UI and micro animations are also worth mentioning.

monday.com is a Work OS from Israel and was launched in 2014. In July 2019, it raised $150 million based on a $1.9 billion valuation.
monday.com describes its product as a “Work OS (Work Operating System)” and seeks to provide the backbone of any business.
The three core products are as follows:
- monday Work Management : Specializing in task and project management
- monday Sales CRM : Specialized in sales management
- monday Dev : Specializing in agile software development
Although each product is independent, they can be used with integration.
For example, as shown in the following image, items managed in CRM can be imported into the Work Management space.
I think the most intuitive and easy to start is Work Management. I think it would be good to try the free plan of Work Management and add sales CRM if you feel that it is not enough for your needs.
Recent trend of project management tools
Many cloud-based project management tools in recent years are going beyond project management and aiming to become a Work OS. You can say that intense competition is going on in this field.
ASANA, ClickUp, and Wrike all have document management and automation features, and can be used not only for task management, but also for document management, human resource management, and sales management, for example.
While these tools have the flexibility to handle any operation within a single tool, monday.com offers separate products.
Similarly, HubSpot offers multiple products that are specialized for different uses and allow them to be used together at the same time.
In any case, these tools are shifting from traditional project and task management tools to no-code and low-code tools that allow users to create their own productivity-enhancing applications.
I am curious to see how each of these tools will make their differences.

Cozy micro-animation
On monday.com, you can see small animations within the application.
Some are displayed all the time, and others are displayed when you perform some action, such as when you complete a task.
They have a cute taste and are very relaxing to watch.
Lightweight
Compared to other project and task management tools, it is lightweight, and there is less lag in response to operations. I think it is the lightest among other tools.
Variety of Templates
There are many templates available that are useful for initial project setup.
Some of them are in English, but many of them are in Japanese.
Also, you can learn “how to use this app” just by looking at them.

You can add any items (custom field) you like
You may want to add items (custom fields) to make tasks easier to manage.
For example, you are managing human resources, but you do not have a field to record employee summer vacation, so you want to add one. Even in such a case, there are suitable fields available to handle the period of time.
The items can be added as if you were adding columns in Excel.
The following video shows how to add a column for “Summer Vacation” to a personnel management table.
You can also choose column type from variety options.

Display in a various formats

You can also work with frequently used third-party apps to improve your work producrivity.

Automation features
A built-in automation feature is also available to automate tasks within monday.com. You can choose from presets or customize them. You can also create your own automation from scratch.

Although it seems complicated with a lot of features, it has a very simple UI that is easy to understand and use.
It’s fun to think about what you could do with monday.com.
What I have explained so far is the features of monday.com Work Management. Isn’t this enough to improve productivity?
If you also want to enhance your customer and sales management, check out the features of the monday.com sales CRM.
There is a free plan, so I think it would be best to try it out first.
